Oxidation control at every stage

Omega-3 oxidation is not a single event to be tested for at the end -- it is managed at every stage, from the crude oil intake to the moment the drum is sealed.

Technical detail

Nitrogen blanketingApplied to storage, transfer and the drum headspace so the oil is never held under air
AntioxidantMixed tocopherols as standard, dosed against the declared TOTOX target rather than a fixed amount
TemperatureAmbient storage with controlled transfer temperatures; no unnecessary heat cycles
PackagingEpoxy-lined drums, nitrogen flushed and sealed immediately after filling

Quality control

What is checked before and after this stage.

IntakeCrude and refined feed oils tested on arrival and rejected if already outside the incoming limit
In-processHolding times capped between stages; the oil is not left exposed while a line is idle
ReleasePV, AV and TOTOX verified against the customer's declared limit before the COA is issued
RetentionRetained samples allow the oxidation trajectory to be re-checked during shelf-life review

Handling and packaging

HeadspaceNitrogen, verified at filling
Container190 kg epoxy-lined steel drum
Shelf life24 months when kept sealed at ambient temperature
Handling noteOpened drums should be used promptly and re-blanketed; see the buyer guidance on opened-drum handling

How an order runs

1. Declare the oxidation limit

State the PV, AV and TOTOX limits your release procedure actually applies.

2. Choose the grade

Standard or low-TOTOX, depending on how sensitive the finished product is.

3. Confirm the antioxidant system

Agree the antioxidant and dose where the formulation restricts the options.

Frequently asked questions

What TOTOX values can be supplied?

Standard production targets TOTOX ≤ 26. Low-TOTOX lots held below 6 are produced on request for sensitive formulations.

Does nitrogen blanketing change the specification?

No. It changes the rate at which the oil oxidises after filling, which is why it is applied to storage, transfer and the drum headspace.

How should an opened drum be handled?

Use the contents promptly, minimise headspace exposure, and re-blanket or transfer to a smaller sealed container for the remainder.
