Process overview

The route from raw oil to specification.

The route from crude oil to a released concentrate is a sequence of separation steps. Each one exists to remove something: non-triglyceride material, unwanted fatty acids, contaminants, odour. What has to survive intact is the EPA and DHA.

  • Concentration up to 98% total omega-3
  • EPA-rich and DHA-rich cuts produced deliberately
  • Nitrogen blanketing from intake to drum filling
  • Every cut assayed by GC before blending
Six stages

Manufacturing processes

Each stage is recorded per batch, and deviation holds the lot rather than being corrected on paper.

01 · Intake

Crude and refined feed oils are assayed on arrival; lots outside the incoming oxidation limit are rejected before processing.

02 · Refining

Degumming, neutralisation, bleaching and winterisation remove the non-triglyceride fraction and prepare the oil for concentration.

03 · Transesterification

Fatty acids are converted to ethyl esters, which is what makes high concentration technically reachable.

04 · Molecular distillation

Short-path distillation under deep vacuum separates the esters by boiling point at a temperature low enough to protect EPA and DHA.

05 · Deodorisation

A controlled strip removes odour and off-notes while keeping oxidation values inside the declared limits.

06 · Release

Each cut is assayed, blended to the agreed ratio, dosed with antioxidant, packed under nitrogen and released with its COA.

Batch specifications and documents

Sample and production batchesSample lots for evaluation and production lots for commercial orders follow the same release procedure; only the quantity differs.
Batch specificationsEPA/DHA ratio, total omega-3, molecular form, oxidation limits and contaminant limits are fixed per product before the run starts.
Product documentsCOA, specification sheet, TDS, SDS, certificates and traceability records are issued with the batch or on request.
RetentionRetained samples are held so an oxidation question can be re-checked later in the shelf life.
